OIL THIEVES are on the prowl in Fanad again – and have the cheek to be selling it on the peninsula as well.
We understand a gang has targeted a number of homes in recent days, emptying tanks of home heating fuel.
It’s understood the same gang has been offering the stolen oil for sale to unsuspecting homeowners in the area.
Gardai believe the gang is the same one which was operating in the area last winter.
Homeowners are being reminded to fix their tanks with specialist locks in an attempt to thwart the thieves.
They are also being reminded to purchase oil from reputable dealers – anyone caught buying stolen home heating oil could face criminal charges.
