TOP Donegal chef Martin Anderson is opening a new coffee shop and deli in Letterkenny.
The Donegal Daily columnist said it would be the culmination of years of hard work and ambition. It will be based at the Rossview Business Park and will be launched in early spring. It will be called Sonder.
Writing in his column for Donegal Daily today, Martin said: “I am in the process of opening my own food business here in Letterkenny.
“Over the years I’ve built a loyal following of real food lovers and it is my intention to open a coffee shop and fresh food deli offering both sit-in and grab-and-go meals.
“This has been a dream of mine for many years and I’m delighted to finally get the opportunity to do it. The recipes and advice I give here on Donegal Daily will all come to real life very soon. Thank you for your support and I look forward to cooking you for you very, very soon.”
The name for the new premises for foodies – Sonder – has caused a stir.
So here’s the definition from the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows!:
sonder
n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.
