ONE of two truck drivers killed in an early morning crash in Co Monaghan is from Donegal.
The man, who is understood to be in his early 30s, is understood to be from the outskirts of Letterkenny.
Gardai in Monaghan are investigating the two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred this morning on the N2 between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney.
The accident happened at approximately 6am.
Both male drivers of the two trucks involved were fatally injured in the crash.
They were the sole occupants of each of the vehicles.
One of the victim’s bodies has been removed from the scene and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, the other remains at the scene.
The stretch of the N2 is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Investigators and local diversions are in place.
It is expected that the road will remain closed for the next number of hours.
