ACTOR and comedian Danny O’Carroll has warned fans of Mrs Brown’s Boys that a Facebook competition offering a trip of a lifetime to Australia is fake.

Danny, who lives in Newtowncunningham and plays Buster in the hit RTE/BBC series, wants to warn local fans of the show not to be taken in by the scam.

The online competition offered fans a chance to fly with the cast to Melbourne, see a gig, and then travel around Australia in a luxury camper van with 50,000 Australian dollars in prize money.

But Danny told Donegal Daily the Facebook page – which looks exactly like the official page – was bogus.

And so was the competition!

He joked: “If I thought I could win that prize I’d have entered it myself.”

He added: “It’s a fake page and a fake competition…..it’s just annoying so many people were taken in by it.”

A statement on the official Mrs Brown’s Boys Facebook page said: “Just so you know the page you are on now is the only official page the one in the picture is fake and has no affiliation with us, we don’t have a problem with fan pages but when they try to manipulate you guys in to liking & sharing a post for what is completely a fake competition, we’re not happy with that!”
