WEATHER ALERT: Gardaí are advising motorists to stay off the road as the predicted heavy snowfall that was forecast has hit Letterkenny causing traffic chaos.
We reported earlier this afternoon that snow and ice was causing chaos in different parts of Donegal throughout the day – with some minor accidents in places.
However, the snow storm has now swept across Letterkenny and is causing traffic disruption.
The heavy snowfall started just after 5pm and hasn’t stopped since with the road now completely covered in snow.

Some back roads have been described as impassable and Gardaí are urging people to stay indoors and refrain from any driving.
