Local businesses in Letterkenny are supporting the town’s biggest employer by offering an incredible 20% bonus to hundreds of staff.

Pramerica are issuing a generous €500,000 in staff bonuses in the form of ShopLK gift cards.

Now local businessman John Watson, of Watson Home and Hire, is adding on a free 20% to the value of the cards for hundreds of Pramerica staff until February 19th next.

Dozens of shops across the Cathedral Town are set to benefit from the New Year spending spree which will mean a boost of more than €2 million to the town.

Mr Watson is hoping that other local businesses will following his example and offer the bonus in a bid to ensure that Letterkenny continues to experience an upturn in local business.

“We’re giving our Northern Ireland customers 45% on their sterling, now we’re going to give our local customers 20% on the euro through ShopLK,” Mr Watson told Donegal Daily.

The ShopLK gift card scheme proved very popular over the Christmas period with more than €500,000 in vouchers being sold in just five weeks.
