MAN FINED €150 FOR HAVING BALD TYRES ON HIS HONDA CIVIC

A man has been fined €150 for having excessively worn tyres on the front of his Honda Civic vehicle.

Keelan Sweeney, 20, with an address at Ballymaleel, Letterkenny pleading guilty to the charges against him.

The court heard how Garda Michael Kilcoyne pulled the defendant’s vehicle over on the Port Road, Letterkenny on February 22nd, 2015.

Garda Kilcoyne noticed that the two front tyres on Mr Sweeney’s Honda Civic were excessively worn and ordered him to change the tyres immediately.

Solicitor for the defendant Michael Shiel told the court, “My client accepts that his tyres were excessively worn – and changed them the following day.

“He has no previous convictions and is currently unemployed.

“However, he is set to start a FAS course on January 23rd – he pleaded guilty to the charges against him early and has been co-operative with Gardaí.

“There was also an issue with a sun visor, he subsequently removed that the following day when his tyres where replaced.

Judge James Faughnan fined Mr Sweeney €150, on the basis the tyres were bald and gave the defendant four months to pay the fine.
