Josh Mailey has agreed to re-sign for Finn Harps ahead of their forthcoming season in the Premier Division.

The news will come as a great boost to Finn Harps fans who feared they would lose the services of Mailey in the off-season.

Mailey was approached by Derry City, and played in a trial match under the watchful eye of their new manager Kenny Shiels in a friendly against Institute FC.

However, Mailey has agreed to re-sign for Harps and becomes the latest player to join the club.

Mailey enjoyed a superb campaign for Harps last season and was one of Horgan’s key players.

Mailey’s versatility means he is a highly-valued player – and last season Mailey played in several different positions.

His goal against UCD in the play-off win at Finn Park was nominated for Goal of the Season on Soccer Republic.

Mailey is currently injured, and has so far not taken part in any pre-season training.

Ollie Horgan will be hopeful Mailey will return in the next number of weeks.

Harps face the Inishowen Oscar Traynor team on Wednesday night in their first official run-out of pre-season.
