NEW YEAR, NEW YOU! NEVER TOO LATE TO CHOOSE A POSTGRAD PROGRAMME AT LYIT

Chatting business at the LYIT.

The dawn of a New Year brings resolution and promises, and for many this includes the promise to return to education.

With a proven track record, and over 14 years’ experience in delivering postgraduate programmes, LYIT School of Business is ready to affirm your resolutions, and support your endeavours in 2016.

LYIT’s educational approach is designed to fit our fast-changing world. It makes learning relevant to real life and real work, and it is rooted to the realities of the digital age, where the appetite for learning is never curbed.

“At LYIT we get to know our students, and while we make sure that we deliver cutting edge education, we also ensure that learning at LYIT is enjoyable and engaging,” said Michael Margey, Head of the Institute’s School of Business.

The School offers a wide range of postgraduate opportunities. The programme selection is divided into two categories, with pre-experience programmes aimed at recent graduates, who have little experience, and post-experience programmes aimed at those with significant experience.

Post-experience Masters courses are offered in executive and professional education – Innovation Management in the Public Service, Innovation & Leadership, and Learning & Teaching. Research Masters are also available in specialised areas. “At LYIT School of Business we push learning to another level,” said Margey.

Margey is particularly pleased by the success of the post-experience programmes, and commends its ‘action learning’ methodology, in delivering expert knowledge to managers and professionals facing real world challenges.

“The aim of these programmes is to move the student and their organisation to the next level by taking action. We are delighted to see outcomes that include tangible gains and positive after-burn that can last for many years and make a direct impact on organisations, these programmes are much more than getting the qualification.”

An important aspect of how the learning is delivered on these post-experience programmes is the inclusion of away time.

“Our flexible learning model is also very important which uses a combination of 2/3 day block delivery and online, as opposed to completely online, the personal element is very important, we bring best practice national and international speakers to our modules, and focus on developing a positive social environment for the exchange of ideas and discussion. Getting managers and professionals to discuss and engage is key, learning, in particular action learning, is a social process.”

“We have been hugely successful in the delivery of innovative learning with our pre-experience as well as our post-experience Masters programmes. There is a common thread across all of our post-graduate programmes, and that’s the delivery of proven, specialised, practice-based and work-focused programmes, that make learning enjoyable.”

According to Margey, the demand for places on the postgraduate programmes offered by LYIT is almost exclusively based on word of mouth recommendation.

“We have established a centre of excellence in the North West that has allowed us to continue to grow our range of postgraduate programmes, we currently have ten postgraduate programmes including research masters within the School. Situating these programmes in Donegal gives a great boost to anyone wishing to study, as in the past we had to travel to centres such as Dublin, Galway and Belfast. It’s a great opportunity; if you wish to take you and your organisation to the next level, then give us a call to discuss.
