The Donegal GAA squad will jet off to Tenerife next month.

The Donegal GAA squad will leave the miserable Irish weather behind them next month – as they jet off to Tenerife for a warm-weather training camp.

Donegal begin their Allianz National League campaign against Down this Saturday night in Newry.

However, the league shuts down for three weeks in February – and Donegal manager Rory Gallagher will avail of that break – and take his squad away for a five-day training camp.

Training camps were a recurring feature during the McGuinness era – and he talked about the importance those training breaks had towards Donegal’s success throughout his tenure.

Gallagher will be using the trip not only to work on playing systems and tactics.

But it’ll also represent an opportunity to integrate the younger members of the squad into the experienced group.

Donegal played Westmeath in a challenge encounter last weekend in Ballyshannon – and will be keen the get the competitive action underway this weekend.

For those not travelling to Newry on Saturday, the game will be televised live on Setanta Sports at 7pm.
