MASSIVE 90-FT WAVES AS STORM GERTRUDE RIPS THROUGH DONEGAL

2-1454058000-1STORM Gertrude has battered Donegal overnight – felling trees and pouring more rain onto already sodden ground.

And waves topping 90 feet high have created a massive swell off the Donegal coast, making many coastal routes dangerous this morning.

Winds touching 130km/hr hit the county at one stage.

Gardaí are appealing for road users to exercise extreme care today, with debris and trees down on some rural roads.

The Orange Weather Alert will end at 9am.

However it will remain very windy after that.

Temperatures will plunge later this evening, giving snow falls, especially on higher ground.
