Brian ‘Dinky’ Dorrian.

The man credited by many for nurturing the precocious talent of Seamus Coleman as a teenager – has been appointed the new Sligo Rovers U19 manager.

Brian ‘Dinky’ Dorrian currently manages the Donegal Oscar Traynor team and successfully led St Catherine’s to league and cup success last season.

He has previously worked with Sligo Rovers FC – and is well-known and respected at the club.

Coleman was spotted by Sean Connor when Sligo played St Catherine’s in a friendly encounter – that team was managed by Dorrian – and many credit him with nurturing Coleman as a teenager.

Soccer Donegal reported that Sligo Rovers first-team gaffer Dave Robertson was keen to appoint Dorrian – Rafael Cretaro will join Dorrian on his backroom staff.

The league begins in March – and Sligo face Derry City in that opener.
