STORM HENRY: A fallen tree on the main Donegal to Derry road in Killea has caused traffic disruption this morning.

The tree was blown onto the main road earlier this morning due to the ferocious winds hammering Donegal since yesterday evening.

Donegal has been battered by strong winds with gusts of up to 140km/hr recorded in some parts of the county.

ESB workers are working around the clock to restore power to hundreds of homes that are currently without electricity.

The adverse weather is set to worsen before it gets better – and forecasters are predicting that the Donegal will bear the worst of Storm Henry later this evening.

Gardaí are advising motorists to drive with extreme care and be vigilant – as they may be debris and fallen branches on other parts of the roads in Donegal.
