Cllr Frank Mc Brearty is currently preparing for his General Election campaign – but he took time out of his busy schedule to attend the Ulster Boxing Championships last weekend.

The popular councillor was a special guest at the event – and presented medals to all the finalists at The Ulster Boxing Championship last weekend.

McBrearty told Donegal Daily, “As a former Ulster Champion myself it means a lot to me to present these medals.

“I also feel sport is vital for young people in Donegal, it promotes positive mental health and well being in our communities.”

McBrearty is confident he can win a seat in the forthcoming election, and is extremely popular with the electorate not only in his own constituency – but also across Donegal.

His no-nonsense approach to local politics has won him supporters and now he wants to bring that to a national level.

The date for the General Election is expected to be announced tomorrow morning.
