Donegal duo Ryan McHugh and Michael Murphy have been included in Hoganstand’s team of the week.
The Donegal stars helped their county overcome a flat Down team in the first round of the Allianz League Division 1 clash at Pairc Esler on Saturday night, by 17pts.
Ryan McHugh played superbly and also added to the score sheet twice with two well-taken goals which heaped misery on Down.
Hoganstand wrote, “The diminutive McHugh found the back of the Down net twice as Donegal coasted to a 17 point victory against Down”
Captain fantastic Michael Murphy again proved influential as he added 8 points to Donegal’s tally, one of which was from a sideline ball 20 metres from the endline.

Michael Murphy scored 0-8 against Down in the first round of fixtures of the Allianz National Football League
“Michael Murphy produced another exhibition of dead ball kicking and a sideline effort was worth the admission price alone” said the Hoganstand selection panel.
Their inclusion in the team of the week is a promising sign for the year ahead.
Donegal now take on Cork, who also had a comprehensive win over Mayo in the first round of fixtures, at Fr.Tierney Park Ballyshannon, on Sunday afternoon, hoping to add another 2 points to their position in the league standings.
