ATHLETICS: EMILY CROKE SHOWS HER CLASS AGAIN TO WIN U14 SHOT PUTT TITLE

ROSSES AC NEWS:

Another great result for the Rosses and Gweedore athletes in the orange vests. The club picked up 2 Golds , 1 Sliver and 2 Bronze.

A great show of strength, speed and talent by the club athletes and a word of thanks to all the parents who made the trip to support and also to the club JUMP coaches – Aidan and Derek Gillespie for their time and effort. Great performances and well done to all our athletes who competed. A word of thanks also to the parents who travelled and a nice reward for coaches Anne Green, Sean McGinley, Fergal McGee who also travelled.

RESULTS

U.12 Boys Shot Putt
Jordan Gallagher , Acres NS gave a good showing at his first throw event of the season with a Bronze medal. More good things to come from this young man.

U.14 Girls Shot Putt
Emilly Croke, Roshine NS showed her class yet again to take the Gold medal. Another one for the collection and it’s only February.

U.14 Girls Long Jump
Leah NicGhairbhigh , PSG added to her Day 1 medal with a PB 4.40m jump to take Silver. Onwards and upwards for this talented lady.

Emma Brown , PSG also competed at long jump today for the very first time and gave an impressive jump of 3.69m. A decent jump to build on into the future. Watch this space!

U.14 Boys High Jump
Patrick Marry , RCS was on show for the second day at these Ulsters. With a jump of 1.35m he took home the Bronze medal. Keep up the good work.

U.17 Girls Triplejump
Fodhla McFadden, PSG added to her impressive Bronze at the All Ireland Juniors this season with a class display of jumping taking Gold with a 10.49m jump. Only a matter of time until the 11m mark is smashed by this young talented athlete.

Super performances all round by all the Rosses & Gweedore athletes that took part in the Ulster Indoor Champ’s in Magherfelt . There was a total of 5 Individual Ulster medals with Two relay teams also taking the podium spots gaining a silver and bronze..

Field Results:

U12 Girls:

Amber Gallagher took Gold in the U12 Shot

Maeve Boyle picked up a bronze in the U12 Shot.

Chloe McCole threw a good 3.68m, in a new event for her.

U14 Boys:

Patrick Marry showed fine early season form in the long jump as well as the sprint and set a marker for himself for the outdoor season.

U17 Boys:

Thomas Marry took Silver in the Shot.

Track Results:

U12 Girls:

Aoife McGee taking silver in the 60m U12.

U13 Girls:

Amy Green ran a fantastic early season time of 2.14min in the 600m.

U14 Girls:

Leah McGarvey took 4th in the U14 60M

U15 Girls

Emma Brown took bronze in the U15 60M.

U15 Boys:

Johnson Bangora was 5th in the U15 60M

Cianan Gallagher was 6th in the U15 60M

Joe Sharkey ran a good 8.57sec in the U15 60m and had a good battle with

Kyle Doohan who ran 8.59sec.                                                                                       U16 Boys;

John Boyle ran a good early season time in the U16 60M

Relay Medals:

U15 Boys Relay were 2nd. (Johnson Bangora, Cianan Gallagher, Kyle Doohan, Joe Sharkey) receiving silver.

U15 Girls Relay were 3rd.( Emma Brown, Leah NicGhairbhigh, Emma Doherty, Shannon McCready)

Reminder that registration is now due prices for 2016 are as follows adult 20,1st child 15 euro 2nd child 15 euro 3rd child 10 euro family 40 euro. Registration starts from the calender year ( january-December) and must be renewed each january.

Sportshall continues in RCS gym , Dungloe .First group is from 5.45pm to 6.45 for athletes born 2006-2007-2008 with coaches Leanne Sharkey, Emer Mc Gee and Grace Garvie. second session is from 6.45pm-7.45pm for athletes born 2005 and older with coaches Louise Gillespie and Sean McGinley . fee is euro 2.

Sporthall continues in gweedore mondays from 6pm-7pm with coaches Brendan Mc Bride Anne Harkin, Leah mc Geever ,fergal mc gee and  Noreen mc gee.

Adult training continues Tuesdays and Thursdays in the estate Gweedore starting at 7pm meeting at Euroflex. All levels of athletes welcome.
