SOCCER: LYIT Men’s soccer team came from behind this afternoon to book a place in the All-Ireland Colleges semi-final.

Goals from brothers Paul and Brian McVeigh ensured Shane Byrne’s side progressed to the last four of the competition.

DIT took the lead early in the second-half, but LYIT responded quickly after when Paul McVeigh was fouled inside the box.

McVeigh dusted himself down and dispatched the penalty expertly.

The game was very much nip and tuck in the final stages with both sides pressing hard for a winner.

However, it was Brian McVeigh who fired LYIT into the semi-final with a well-taken goal.

He started the move and drove right down the middle of the DIT defence, he slipped it wide and when the cross was cleared – the onrushing McVeigh was on hand to slam home.

DIT searched in vain for an equalizer, but LYIT stood resolute and earned a famous win.
