The Donegal Donkey Sanctuary has launched a unique fundraising competition called ‘Dear Donkey’ in the hope of raising €1 MILLION!

The Raphoe-based charity has launched the ambitious plan in a bid to purchase a FARM for their ever expanding family of unwanted & abused donkeys.

Donegal Donkey Sanctuary has grown and flourished since it began in 2007. They have supporters worldwide and are very thankful to be recognised nationally and internationally for their work with abandoned and abused donkeys.

Their stables are constantly full to capacity with an ever increasing influx of needy animals. Currently they operate on a small farm with additional paddocks borrowed in outlying areas when the need arises.

Sometimes these fields are not available so this is not an ongoing solution. Basically they need to BUY A FARM in order to have sufficient grazing for their hungry residents.

The concept of ‘Dear Donkey’ is the brainchild of one of their founding member, Danny Curran, who has come up with a novel fundraiser which can be done by people at home and abroad.

How it works:

You need to write a letter to ‘Dear Donkey’ asking them to make your dream come true. There are two ways to get this letter to them.

It can be done online on their website or by traditional post directly to the sanctuary at Castledooey, Raphoe, Donegal, Ireland. Payment can be made by credit card online or by cheque, postal order or cash if you are sending your letter by post. (Please remember that sending cash by post can be risky). All cheques and postal orders to be made payable to Donegal Donkey Sanctuary.

50% of funds raised will go towards the purchase of a farm 50% towards the prize fund.

The sanctuary are appealing to the Irish diaspora to take part & offer their support as well as people at home. If you are an animal lover or just love Ireland then please consider to take part in ‘Dear Donkey’ and make a difference that will secure the future of many donkeys for decades to come.

All letters will be considered and winners will be selected by Donegal Donkey Sanctuary representatives.

Please like Donegal Donkey Sanctuary’s Facebook page and share details of ‘Dear Donkey’ as widely as possible. The more people who take part the greater the prize fund to be shared …..

For just €5 per letter you can make your dreams come true and at the same time secure a home for these vulnerable animals. Write as many letters as you like! It will increase your chances of winning!
