Who will you vote for?

OPINION POLL: Last week, Donegal Daily ran a poll which generated almost 4,000 votes and Independent candidate Dessie Shiels topped the poll.

He was followed in the top five by Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher, Pearse Doherty, Charlie McConalogue and Tim Jackson.

It kicked off the discussion as to who the Donegal electorate will vote for on February 26th.

Will their be an anti-government vote, or can Joe McHugh retain his seat?

Fellow Fine Gael candidate Paddy Harte has thrown his hat into the political arena, but can he cause a shock and get elected?

Will Fianna Fáil get two candidates elected, just five years after their disastrous 2011 General Election?

Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher is seeking a return to the Dáil, while Charlie McConalogue will hope he can retain his seat.

Sinn Féin have two sitting TD’s in Pearse Doherty and Padriag MacLochlainn and are hoping to add a third by adding Gary Doherty to the ticket to continue their rising popularity both locally and nationally.

Sitting Independent TD Thomas Pringle faces challenges from other Independent candidates in the form of Dessie Shiels, Frank McBrearty, Tim Jackson, Ian McGarvey and Niamh Kennedy.

The Green Party are represented by Paula Flanagan.
