The man leading the company which is designing and building the pitch for the 2018 FIFA World Cup final in Russia, will be the guest speaker at a business networking event in IT Sligo on February 25th.

George Mullan is the founder and owner of SIS Group, a Sligo-based Manufacturing and Sports Construction Company with offices in Europe, Asia and Africa. He will share his business insights at a free event, organised by the Connacht branch of ACCA, the global accounting body, along with the Institute of Technology, Sligo.

SIS has constructed sports surfaces for some of the most prestigious sporting events worldwide including the World Cup finals, the African Cup of Nations, the European Championships, the Champions League and rugby’s Heineken Cup. The company’s client list includes soccer teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus.

“George has a wealth of commercial experience and a hugely successful track record at the business end of sport which will provide invaluable insights for delegates,” said John Gaynor, Chairman of the ACCA (Connacht Branch) and Programme Chair of the BA (Hons) in Accounting at IT Sligo.

“He is also a Sligo man, proud of his roots, and his talk is bound to appeal to a wide audience.”

Looking forward to the event, Michael Barrett, Head of Department in the School of Business & Social Sciences at IT Sligo said: “The event is a welcome opportunity and celebrates our long-standing relationship with ACCA and the support it gives, as a professional body, to our courses.

“Many of our students go on to become full members of the Association and our business and accounting programmes attract valuable exemptions from the body.”

The ACCA networking event will take place on Thursday, February 25th, in A0006, from 5:30 to 8pm.
