Aaron Mc Glynn, a member of Finn Valley AC and a student at Coláiste Uladh, Ballinamore was in commanding form over the weekend winning the English indoor U17 800m title at Sheffield.
Having won the heat Saturday it was all to play for midday Sunday against the best from England, Scotland and Wales.
With 250m to go he was ahead pushing a determined pace and stretching the field going on to take the win in 1.56.06.
A notable victory for this young lad building on what was a most outstanding year in 2015.
He was one of two Irish winners over the weekend Ciera Neville a talented 60m girl from Limerick also winning.
