EIR Ireland have released a statement confirming that a number of major repairs have been carried out in Donegal after severe storm damage earlier this month left many homes without service.

One of the worst affected areas was in Dunlewey with many homes in that area without any service at all for the best part of three weeks.

General Election candidate Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher has welcomed the news regarding the repairs and said it’s imperative that full service is restored to all homes as quickly as possible.

Gallagher spoke to EIR Ireland on behalf of those affected and was delighted at the statement the organization issued earlier this afternoon in which they predicted at least of the homes affected will have full power this evening.

The statement read,  “As you know with the various storm events over the last few months there has been a high level of faults in Donegal and we have deployed significant resources there to address this.

“In total there were an estimated 25 customers without service in Dunlewey and nearby areas following a very severe lightning strike in early February.

“Last weekend we repaired the main cable interface between our underground network from the exchange and the overhead network.

“Since Monday we have changed three additional different sections of cable on the route out to Dunlewey.

“Technicians have been working late to get service restored, and we estimate that approximately half of customers will be back working this evening.

“We will have four staff on site tomorrow to change a further section of cable and we hope to have all remaining customers back in service by the close of business.”
