PUNTERS have been splashing the cash on Thomas Pringle – shortening his odds on retaining a seat in Dail Eireann.

The Killybegs politician’s odds have shortened as a result, according the BoyleSports.

He has been supported into 1/2 from Evens with Fine Gael’s Joe McHugh seeing a massive drift to 1/2 from 1/10.

Clare has also seen movement with Independent candidate Michael Harty now 1/5 from Evens to win one of the four available seats whilst Sinn Féin’s Noeleen Moran is now 3/10 from 9/1. Support has dried up for Independent candidate Ann Norton who has drifted out to 20/1 from 3/1 to win a seat.

A Fine Gael / Fianna Fail coalition looks an even bigger cert now as its price has hardened into Evens from 11/8. A Fine Gael/Labour/Renua/Any Others & Fine Gael/Labour/Social Democrats/Any Others are both next in the betting at 8/1.

Liam Glynn, BoyleSports’ spokesperson said: “It now looks like we will be seeing the next government made up of a historical partnership of Fine Gael / Fianna Fáil coalition. We have been inundated with support for the combination on Thursday that has seen the price slashed into Evens from 11/8.”

He added “Aoife Byrne was as big as 25/1 on Wednesday evening to win one of the five available seats in Wexford. Having laid her at 25/1 and 8/1 the demand continued and is showing no signs of drying up at her current price of 2/1 with colleague Malcolm Byrne seeing a major drift as a result.”
