An allocation of funding will now ensure the Cloughfin Bridge between Carrigans and St.Johnston will get reconstructed and completed to an acceptable and safe condition for all the traffic users in the area.

Cllr Paul Canning has welcomed the move and it is planned that this work will commence shortly given the unsafe nature of the bridge at present.

Cllr Canning has been working on prioritising this bridge for reconstruction for the past few years but due to other unforseen problems that has had an adverse affect on this project it was always put on hold.

“It appears that these problems are now getting sorted and that this bridge will get reconstructed shortly.

“Part of the road within this area is also on the list for reinstatement and surface dressing, all of this work is planned within 2016,” he said.
