BROGAN CALLS FOR LETTERKENNY FF VOTERS TO STICK WITH PARTY STRATEGY

The chairman of Donegal County Council has appealed to his party’s voters in the Letterkenny Municipal District area to stick with their agreed strategy.

Cllr Ciaran Brogan said he is calling on local Fianna Fail supporters to stick to the strategy as agreed by the party team and give their number one vote to Charlie McConalogue and your number two to Pat the Cope Gallagher.

He said “We have every chance of winning two seats in the newly redrawn constituency if we adopt this strategy and I would urge all our supporters to come out in huge numbers and help give us those two seats.

“The reaction on the doorsteps had been very positive and I’m confident that with the work we have put in, we can return two Fianna Fail TDs.”

He said one of the big issues they have been hearing about at every turnaround is health and particularly those patients and their families who are forced to travel down the country for treatment.

“As things stand, there are far too many expected to leave Donegal and travel to the likes of Galway and Dublin for treatment that should be available in their home county.

“This doesn’t just relate to cancer services but also to other services. We have to fight hard to retain those services in Letterkenny Hospital and Fianna Fail is committed to doing just that.”

Jobs are another massive issue and, again, he said Fianna Fail have a commitment in place to bring investment and employment to Donegal and give real hope to those who find themselves out of work.

Road infrastructure is another subject that has come up again and again and one particular concern is the work on the Manorcunningham to Lifford road and the link with the A5 dual-carriageway in the North, he added.

“This has been something that has been talked about for too long with little sign of progress. But we will push this initiative to its completion and provide an upgraded cross-border route that will benefit everybody and give us a road link that will match the best there is.”

He added “Our party’s commitment won’t be found wanting on all these issues and others besides and I would again call on our supporters and indeed those of the electorate who have yet to make their mind up on who to vote for, to place their number one vote beside the name of Charlie McConalogue on the ballot paper and their number two beside that of Pat the Cope Gallagher.

“By doing this we can elect two Fianna Fail T.D.’s and, at the same time, ensure that Donegal gets the services that only a long-standing political party can bring.”
