A Donegal motorist has been quoted €14,382 for motor insurance – yes, that’s not a misprint €14,382 for insurance for one year!

The quote (pictured above) was sent into us by Jake Sayers, who was left stunned by this outrageous price for insurance for one year.

He sent us in the quote to again highlight and expose the flaws that are seemingly rife in the insurance industry at present.

The quote was given to him by quoteme.ie.

Our story last night regarding a 20 year-old driver – that was quoted €8,455.00 for third party fire and theft sparked a furious reaction from motorists all over Donegal.

Motorists have called for the Government to intervene and regulate insurance companies.

The excessive hikes aren’t isolated to young drivers, motorists that have been driving for 15-20 years have reported that their insurance has doubled!

Dee Ferry Kennedy posted, “They’re all the same – I’ve been driving for over twenty-five years, with no accidents (touch wood) no claims and no points.

“My car is ten years old and I’m being charged €800 a-year.

“It’s a joke to be honest, the same car details would cost me £189.00 in the UK.
