GENERAL ELECTION: There is huge anger and frustration among many voters in one Donegal constituency tonight after many were left without polling cards.

Constituents in Craigadoos, Raphoe – have not received polling cards and that has sparked anger and frustration among locals in the area.

Local Independent candidate Frank McBrearty has received dozens of calls from voters asking him are they still entitled to vote.

McBrearty took to his Facebook timeline in an effort to help spread the word regarding the issue.

McBrearty posted, “It has been brought to my attention that nobody in the Craigadoos area has received a voting card, it is happening in other areas as well.

“This does not stop you voting, take photo ID or a marriage or birth cert along to your polling station.

“You will be allowed to vote.”

There are reports that there have been similar issues in other parts of Donegal.

Voting turnout has been described as slow in Letterkenny, although it has picked up.

Voter turnout in Dunlewey is lower than usual with just a 26% turnout so far, while in nearby Falcarragh is at 33%.
