In the wake of his strong polling in last week’s election, Tim Jackson has thanked people across Donegal for their support for the first time Independent candidate.

Out performing all the county councillors by finishing just behind the outgoing Padraig McLochlainn, Jackson said his success pointed to an appetite for change among the electorate.

Jackson told Donegal Daily, “I’m delighted with the support we received on the ground and at the ballot box from people across the whole county and particularly in the Finn Valley.

“We set out clear policies and principles from the outset, and this result is a definite endorsement of our campaign from so many supporters across Donegal.

“I also had a big team of hard working volunteers around the county, and this result would have been impossible without them.

“The local elections are something I will now consider given the tremendous response.”
