GAA NEWS: CRAIC, CEOIL AND TEA AT GLENSWILLY CLUB THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

written by Stephen Maguire March 1, 2016
Facebook0Tweet0LinkedIn0Print0

GLENSWILLY NOTES

Guest tea

The long-awaited guest tea takes place this Friday in the clubhouse and promises to be great craic. All proceeds to club funds. There are still tables available! Each table seats just eight people so it is not a huge commitment. Parents and players are encouraged to take or share a table. There will also be live music on the night. Volunteers also needed to help with hall preparation, Car Parking, clean up etc. Please contact Bernie Lapsley, Pauline Carberry or Deirdre McDaid.

Help!

Any parent or adult interested in helping out with underage teams for 2016 must be Garda Vetted and have child protection course completed otherwise they will not be allowed to take part or help out at training and matches. Please contact Annemarie McDaid on 0863387363 or Aisling McDaid on 0861612681.

Gaeltacht Championship

The best of luck to the senior men’s team who take on Ardara at 7pm in Ardara this Saturday in the next round of the Gaeltacht. The seniors have already had a convincing win against Glenfin in this competition last weekend.

The Reserves start there season in Glenswilly at 3pm this Saturday v Glencolmcille in the Gaeltacht also.

Registration

All players must be registered. The club will be holding the last registration night on Friday 18th March 2016 at the club house from 7pm to 9pm. This will be the last night.

Minor notes

The U12s and U14s will be starting on 4th May 2016.

The U14s had their first outing of the season with a friendly against Naomh Muire at The Banks under floodlights last Friday. Many thanks to Naomh Muire for a great game between two very sporting sides.

On the 14th March 2016 at 10am the Susan Carr and Elaine Winston school memorial will take place at the pitch. There are four teams competing including Illistrin, Lurgybrack, the Boys school and Kilmacrennan. Susan was a great club stalwart who was always available if you needed anything.

Our U8s and U6s will commence training on Wed 23rd Mar from 6-15 to 7-15. There is a one euro charge for training. They will train on the main pitch.

Please note all underage training will have to take place on the training field or somewhere else as the main pitch is still closed for training. It should be open for matches. Check with Aisling or Peter.

Anyone organising a bus must inform Bryan Faul 0867887774 for either friendly matches, league or championship matches.

For any friendly matches you must have a offical referee. All coaches must have the child protection course and be Garda vetted.

We hope to have a child protection course run in April.

Lotto

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last Wednesday. Eileen Quinn was the winner of the match 3 lotto. Anybody interested in playing the lotto are reminded that they are available in local outlets including shops.

Bingo

Bingo continues in the hall every Wednesday night starting at 9pm. All are welcome for a fun night with great cash prizes on offer.
