FOOTBALL: A goal from Dave Scully has given Harps the lead at the interval in the North-West Derby at Finn Park.

The goal came right on the stroke of half-time, and Scully was on the end of a superb delivery to bullet past the helpless Gerard Doherty.

Scully had initially won the free-kick, after a poor challenge by Conor McCormack.

It was swung in and the former Bohemians and Bray striker made no mistake to send the Finn Harps faithful into delirium.

Derry City had started the game brightly with Gareth McGlynn causing problems, and he created a glorious chance for Jordan Allan.

Allan should’ve scored but he flashed his header wide, then a superb block from Harps defender Damien McNulty prevented a certain goal.

Derry came close again when Ciaran Gallagher fumbled a corner-kick, but Allan again should’ve done better and headed over.

Then Scully scored from a Harps set-piece to give Ollie Horgan’s side the lead at the break.
