BUNCRANA CLG NOTES (06.03.2016)

Well done to to Bruce Waldron and Caolan McGonigle who continue to impress with Donegal U-21 footballers. Both men featured in Declan Bonners squad who had a comprehensive win over Sligo in the McPartland Cup winning on a margin of 3-12 to Sligo’s 0-06.

Please be aware that club membership is now due. All players should be registered if they wish to play with the club.

Recycling Bin

Buncrana GAA has a recycle bin at The Scarvey. Anyone who wishes to place old clothes, shoes, curtains, towels etc… can do so. This helps raise funds for the club. Open for anyone to use.

This weeks Lotto numbers were, 1, 9, 21, 26. There was no winner. Next weeks jackpot will be €1175. There were two €200 winners. Dermot & Catriona Doherty and Ollie Doherty were the winners of €200.

Bord Na nOg

Buncrana Minors

Our minors played St Eunans today in the first round of the league. Unfortunately this saw Buncrana player Paddy Wilson pick up a head injury. This resulted in the game not finishing. Many thanks to Johnny and Stephen and the management of  St Eunans for their help at the time. We are happy to report that Paddy is now fine. It was great to see the unity of all involved. Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday night. Be on pitch for 7.30pm. The next outing is to Glenswilly next Sunday and a trip after to the Donegal v Roscommon game.

Buncrana U16

The U16’s made the long 3 hour trip to play Crossmaglen Rangers today. The long trip took it’s toll as the home side settled well and were clinical in their finishing and took a 1-3 to 0-0 lead in the first 20 minutes. The Buncrana boys were up for the physical challenge but had left their shooting boots on the bus with the Cross keeper saving 3 point blank goals….Buncrana then dominated the final 10mins of the half and scored 1-2. Half time score 1-6 to 1-3. The second half was again even (alot of changes from both sides) with the home side again just been that more accurate in the final third. The final score of 2-9 to 2-6. This was a high quality and tough encounter with the Buncrana boys all taking something away from the game. Very proud of the hard work the lads put in today. The hospitality from Crossmaglen was excellent….and many thanks to them today.

U8 boys Gaelic football

Coaching continues in the youth club in Buncrana every Monday at 6:30pm and now every Wednesday in the illies hall at 6:30pm for one hour.  The underage training contribution is one payment of 2 euro per week for one or multiple sessions including football and/or hurling.  New players always welcome anytime.

Hurling

The Donegal Hurling Féile is being hosted in the Scarvey on Saturday the 12th of March. This is a big day for the U14 hurlers and as much supportas possible is needed for the boys on the day

Girls

Thursday: U8 6pm-7pm . U10 & U12 7pm-8pm in Scoil Mhuire. Bring water and gumshields and €2.
