DD LOGO 2Donegal continues to have the lowest income levels in Ireland – and they have got even worse since last year.

The current average income in Donegal is €18,765 per year, down slightly on the previous year.

That is €4,438 behind the national average of €23,203 while the comparable income in Dublin is €30,061.

The county’s income levels are now 38% lower than the national average.

At the same time the county’s housing output is put at –17.7% compared with a national average of 20.9%. Only Kilkenny and Sligo have worse records.

Donegal is the only county in Ireland to have recorded minus growth of 0.4% according to Dr. Mick Kerrigan from the Independent.ie Data Science Team.

CSO figures shows disposal income levels in Donegal similar to that in 2006 with the figure peaking in 2008.

From 2013 to 2014 there was a national increase in disposable income of €700, in Donegal the figure rose by just €420.
