GAA: MALIN DEFEAT CARNDONAGH IN TOM FARREN MEMORIAL CUP

TOM FARREN MEMORIAL CUP                                                                                                                 Malin beat Carndonagh in the Tom Farren Memorial Cup on Saturday on a scoreline of Malin 2-16 Carndonagh 2-09. The Malin Team on the day was: Seamus Houghton, Thomas Byrne, Kevin McColgan, Conor Byrne, Kieron McColgan, Gary Farren, Thomas McLaughlin, Anthony Kelly, Declan Walsh, Christopher Doherty, Dan McDaid, Brendan McLaughlin, Paul McLaughlin, Danny McCarron, and Jonathan McLaughlin. Subs Noel McLaughlin and Patrick McLaughlin.

Fun Quiz & Donkey Dung Draw The Donkey Dung Draw took place at the fun-quiz last Friday evening with Declan Walsh winning the €1000 first prize. Thanks to all the organisers of the draw and the quiz.

MEMBERSHIP                                                                                                                       The last day for the collection of membership renewal for 2016 takes place in the clubhouse on Thursday 17th March from 11.30am. The Annual subscription fees for 2016 are as follows: Club membership: €20, Non playing Child: €2, Introductory membership for club and gym for existing club members: €120, Minors + Gym:   €80, Minors no gym: €50.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING INFORMATION NIGHT                                                       The club are running a Sports medicine and Nutrition talk on Wednesday the 23rd of March at 8.00pm upstairs in the clubhouse. It will be delivered Dr Frank Fogarty – G.P. with special interest in Sports Medicine and Brigid Doherty (Owen) Community Nutritioniost / Dietician The talk will last around an hour and a half inclusively with Q&A and tea after. The talk is free and would be very beneficial to all our senior and underage players along with their parents and is open to all club members and all members of the community.

BIG BREAKFAST                                                                                                                  The Annual Big Breakfast takes place on St Patrick’s Day Thursday 17th of March from 9.30am to 2.00pm upstairs in our Clubhouse. A great way to start the day before the parades and at only €5 for adults and €3 for children.

UNDERAGE                                                                                                                        Under 6 boys training is on every Sunday from 10:00am – 11:15am                            Under 8 boys training is on every Saturday from 3:00pm – 4:15pm                                          Under 10 boys training is on every Sunday from 11:30am – 12:45pm                                Under 12 boys training is on every Sunday from 12.45pm – 2.00pm Under 14 boys training is on every Saturday from  4.30pm – 6:00pm                          Under 16 boys training is on every Monday from 4.30pm to 6.00pm and every Friday from 5.00pm-6.30pm                                                                                                                     Under 6 and Under 8 girls training is on every Saturday from 11:00am to 12:00pm         Under 10 girls training is on every Saturday from 12:15pm – 1:15pm                        Under 14 and Under 16 girls training is on every Wednesday from 5:15pm to 6:15pm

The under 8’s and 10’s played against Naomh Colmcille in Newtown last Sunday morning before going to the Donegal match along with their coaches. And although the Donegal result didn’t go our way, the players managed to meet the Donegal players after the game – see Facebook for photographs.

LOTTO                                                                                                                                There was no winner of this week’s jackpot of €1300. The €50 winner was Maeve McLaughlin,Black Mountain, Malin Head and the €20 euro sellers prize went to Ronan McLaughlin, Carrowmore. Next week’s jackpot is €1350.

EASTER CAMP                                                                                                                       This years Easter camp will take place Our Annual Easter Camp will take place across Wednesday 30th, Thursday 31st March and Friday 1st April from 10am to 2pm daily. This is for ALL children between 5-13 years. Registration Day is Easter Sunday 27th March from 11.30am to 12.30pm. It is always a fun three days, which every child enjoys and is a great way to let them run off all that chocolate & sugar from Easter Sunday. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW

Malin have been placed in a four team group with Glenfin, Naomh Muire and Sean Mac Cuimhaills in the Michael Murphy Sports Donegal Senior Championship.

POKER TOURNAMNET                                                                                                      There will be a Poker Tournament on this Friday the 18th of March upstairs in the Clubhouse. €20 freeze-out game + €5 administration fee. It will be run by Cathal Doyle. Registration from 8pm starting 8:30pm

SHOP                                                                                                                                      The club shop is open every Saturday from 12.00 – 2.00 and Sunday from 11.20 – 2.00 or alternatively contact Susan Byrne on 9370638 or 0867832242 . The shop also has a great range of stock in all sizes including coats, jackets, hoodies, tracksuits, socks, shorts, hats, new gear bags and much more club merchandise.

FINALLY                                                                                                                               Well done to all the Malin members who were part of the Carndonagh Community School team who won the All-Ireland soccer cup final. Daniel Houghton, Christopher McLaughlin, James McKinney, Kealan Doherty and Liam Gallagher were all involved. And commiserations to Glengad United on their defeat in the quarter finals of the FAI junior cup.
