AIDAN O’SHEA BELIEVES MICHAEL MURPHY COULD BE AN AMERICAN FOOTBALL STAR

Mayo’s marquee forward Aidan O’Shea believes Donegal captain Michael Murphy would be in with a shot at making it in American Football.

O’Shea took part in RTE show ‘The Toughest Trade’ in which he traded places with an American Football star.

O’Shea participated in a NFL draft combine, and also worked closely with top-class quarter-back prospects and established kickers.

O’Shea revealed that he would never make it in the NFL, but that free-taking specialists like Michael Murphy could.

O’Shea told The Irish Daily Star, “I’m not a free taker in our game, but the likes of Bryan Sheehan and Michael Murphy are.

“It’s repetition of technique and I went out there thinking, they just throw the ball back and you just run up and kick it, but it’s actual very, very technical.

“I didn’t appreciate that at the time, but I do now.

“There’s definitely ability for some of our lads to do it – if someone had a massive interest in doing it, maybe it’s something they could pursue.

“If Michael Murphy decided at 16, and went over there and started doing it from the end of High School through to college, I’m sure there’s no reason he or some of the other boys couldn’t make it.
