St. Eunan’s College in Letterkenny continued with their proud record in Team Maths both at regional and national level.

Seven top 5 finishes since 2007 the College in the All Ireland has mean’t that the Eunan’s boys have a great level of consistency in Mathematics.

In 2007 Colm Mc Cormick, Luke Kelly, Patrick Clear and Mark Mc Gowan won the silver medal Trinity College. In University of Limerick (2014) Conor Farrell, Oisin Skinnader, Conor o’ Donnell and James Doherty also received the silver medal.

This year 2016 Leon Vaughan(Captain) and Pauric Neely, Danny Mathew and a young 5th year student Patrick Curran were looking for honours again.

The 20 regional finalists met in NUI Galway in the All Ireland Final and after a titanic struggle with CBS Cork in which the 2 Colleges were level on 6 occasions it was the Cork boys who edged out the Eunan’s boys.

However, it was a great performance at such a high level with the questions based on the Leaving Certificate Project Mathematics Curriculum and winning the silver medal against the top secondary schools in the country both public and private.

At the presentation Dr. Ray Ryan, Head of Mathematical Sciences of NUI Galway congratulated the St. Eunan’s College and CBS Cork on their mathematical skills and the efforts of their teachers in achieving this high standard of Mathematics.

The St. Eunan’s teachers were Mr Colm Mc Fadden and Mr . Pauric Meehan and the competition was organised by the Irish Mathematics Teacher Association.
