SADNESS AS TEEN BOY DIES IN HORRIFIC CAR CRASH

garda-accidentA 17-year-old boy died in a crash this morning in which the 18-year-old driver escaped injury.

Gardaí in Enniscrone, Co Sligo are investigating the fatal single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred in Enniscrone in the early hours.

The collision occurred at approximately 1.45am on Pier Road, Enniscrone, when the van collided with a wall.

The 17-year-old male passenger was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene, his body has been removed to the mortuary in Sligo.

The male 18-year-old driver was uninjured in the collision.

The scene of the collision is currently closed to traffic to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.
