Four people are feared dead after what is believed to be a tragic accident in Buncrana this evening.
The four people, including two young children, are understood to have drowned after their car entered the water close to Buncrana Pier.
The incident happened around 7.15pm.
It is not known how the alarm was raised but there are now numerous emergency response teams at the scene as well as the Rescue 118 helicopter.
It is understood that it is feared there could be another child missing from the car.
An eye-witness told Donegal Daily that the scene at the pier is very distressing.
“I am looking at a number of people, I don’t know how many yet and they are covered with blankets. Nobody knows what happened. It is just so sad but so distressing,” said the man.
