WORLD AT DONEGAL GIRL’S FEET AFTER HER APPEARANCE ON THE VOICE

A shy Donegal shop assistant who never sang on stage before has been flooded with offers after shooting to fame on The Voice Of Ireland.

Nerissa Moore said even if she gets booted off tonight’s live round she already has a new career lined up.

The 24-year-old, who works in a jewellery shop in Derry and is a part-time model, told how she was overwhelmed by the response.

Nerissa told the Irish Mirror “I am shocked. I did not even think I would get through the first round and to think people actually want to pay me to sing.

“I would do it for free, although mammy says, ‘No, get paid’.

“I just can’t believe people want to listen to me.”

The modest star is part of Bressie’s team and tonight she will be up against her own team-mates Moylan Brunnock and David Idioh when all three will perform.

But only one will be voted through and a total of eight singers will be evicted tonight. Voice producers have put Nerissa and Moylan together in the same bedroom in an apartment in DCU ahead of tonight’s show.

But rather than stabbing each other in the back the girls are the best of friends.

Nerissa said: “We get on brilliantly. It’s pretty funny but we got on really well even before we were paired together.

“We stayed in a room together before as well and then they told us we were against each other. But we have agreed, it is what it is. What happens will happen anyway and there is no point getting bitter about it.

“I will be over the moon for her if she gets it because she is a lovely girl and she would deserve it.”

Meanwhile, Nerissa is busy trying to put a band together for her forthcoming gigs as she is only just learning to play guitar herself.

She said: “I am trying to get prepared as I’ve never gigged before. It is all brand new to me and I’ve been thrown in at the deep end with the whole music scene.

“I am getting loads of offers locally, and even some in Belfast. There will be a lot of work to get a playlist and backing music together.”
