kernansEaster is here and at Kernans they have decided to do a survey to find out what our top selling chocolate bars are in Donegal.

To carry out the survey they analysed the sales figures from their 5 stores throughout Donegal to bring you a chocolate lovers ‘Golden Ticket Searching’ list of Donegal’s top 20 favorite Chocolate bars.

Some of you will disagree with our results, some of you may be disappointed that your favorite did not make the list.

But all Kernans can do is present the findings of this important Easter preparing chocolate hierarchy as chosen by our customers over the last year.

20 – Curly Wurly

unnamed-11

It’s very sticky but less sticky on the hips than most, making it a dieter’s delight.

19 – The Time Out

Offers the wafer break with a layer of Flake chocolate and is equally popular with males and females of Donegal. Goes great with a cuppa.

18 – Purple Snack

This entry is here because of me alone… perfect for early morning tea breaks if you need a wee kick! Small but filling.

17 – Wispa Gold

The Wispa Gold has gained legendary status after its comeback in 2008. Wispa Gold came back from the dead after being discontinued in 2003 after a public outcry however it was brought back to our shelves with massive success.

16 – Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut

By name alone it’s the healthiest option on our countdown. Cadbury’s changed the recipe of the Fruit and Nut bar after 90 years – with sultanas added for the first time in place of raisins.

15 – Maltesers

unnamed-254

The sweetest and most delicious candy ever, crispy ball with a taste of honey over rolled with milk chocolate. – Yo, pass me those Maltesers.

14 – Peanut M&Ms

Would be higher up the list if there were more in each bag. Get in the bowl… U get in the bowl!

13 – Caramello

Chocolate with a caramel filled center. Very similar to the Cadbury’s Caramel without the bunny.

12 – Yorkie

Not for girls apparently !

11 – Twirl

At least once in your life you have bitten of the end of a twirl and used it as a straw in your tea or coffee. It is well worth the risk of being caught.

10 – Galaxy Smooth Milk

unnamed-255

In at 10, why have cotton when you can have silk

9 – Snickers

Get some nuts!

8 – Mint Aero

Even more popular than the original which did not make our list proves sequels can turn out better.

7 – Flake

Made from the crumbliest, flakiest chocolate…. nice in a 99!!

6 – Cadbury’s Caramel

The first real caramel bar. Made the Cadbury’s bunny what she is todaybar

5 – Boost (formerly Moro)

unnamed-12

The bar with many names also known as a Moro bar. A Boost cut in half, looks quite similar to the Starbar, fact!

4 – Twix

Left Twix flows caramel on cookie, while Right Twix cascades caramel on cookie. Left Twix bathes in chocolate, while Right Twix cloaks in chocolate.

3 – Rolo

Who do you give your last Rolo to? Never mind the rest you have to share out once you open a pack!

2 – Mars Bar

The Kingpin in the Mars Empire, an absolute classic and our second best-selling bar.

1 – Dairy Milk

unnamed-13

Donegal’s favorite chocolate.”A glass and a half of milk in every half pound bar of chocolate”. Cadbury’s Dairy Milk chocolate was launched in 1905 and became an instant success !! Top Dog in Donegal and across the nation.
