FASHION BLOG: Mairéad Ní Ghallchóir is Donegal Daily’s newest columnist, and this week she’s giving you top tips on how to accessorize with confidence, while also profiling a Donegal start-up company which specializes in jewellery!

Hi guys hope you had a lovely Easter weekend and you’ve all come out of your chocolate coma! I personally would be happy not to see another bar, chocolate sweet or egg for a long time…well until next weekend and the craving comes again!!

ACCESSORISE WITH CONFIDENCE:

This week I’m going to share some of my favourite jewellery accessories with you. I’m going to focus on accessorising with jewellery as opposed to shoes and handbags (I’ll do another post on those J).

Personally I love to accessorise, although sometimes I can be a bit lazy about it!

I think that accessorising can make the most simple outfit seem extremely fashionable and classy, your accessories can often be what highlights your outfit and what draws the eye to it, so ladies get those accessories out and flaunt them!!!

LAYERING:

MMA 4This season seems to be all about layering, that is putting some simple bracelets together and building them up,  along with perhaps a watch or a few ring to create that boho chic look which everyone seems to be doing lately.

This look is also the perfect accessory look for the festival season ahead. The accessories above are all from River Island and I think perfect to create the eye catching layered look.

However, If you’re like me and have built up quite a collection of jewellery pieces over the years then you can mix and match with what you’ve already got to create this classy look.

Remember when layering its best to keep it simple and stick to one or two colours anymore and it can begin to look messy!

Here are some other pieces I’ve picked out in order to get that simple layered look.  Again these items can all be found on ASOS or River Island.

HOW CHARMING:

As you guys know charm bracelets have made a major comeback into the jewellery fashion world. Charm bracelets can be used while layering jewellery or simply on their own.

I love these charm braclets from Laveesha.com and think they would be perfect for layering with a watch and some simple rings.

ANYTHIGN GOES:

When it comes to necklaces this season it would seem that anything goes.

From simple layering and pendants to chunky bling you just can’t go wrong!

It may come as no surprise to you but layered necklaces are everywhere this season as are pendants and they are set to be a huge summer look.

Some of our  favourite celebrities have been seen embracing this simple, elegant look.

Kourtney Kardashian wearing a single pendant layered with a simple cross.

If bling isn't your thing you might, you might love this classy elegant look.

MAKING A STATEMENT:

If you’re like me and love a little bling, don’t worry it hasn’t been lost in all the layering! Bling and statement pieces are still very much in; statement jewellery does exactly what it says and makes a statement giving your outfit the WOW factor! Statement jewellery can make that plain top or simple dress suddenly come to life. It makes the casual, somewhat boring outfit turn into a dressy, exciting outfit.

Investing in some statement pieces is a great, inexpensive way to dress-up your everyday clothes.

When you’re stuck for something to wear, you can simple re-wear the same outfits  but just add a different statement piece to give you a whole new look, it really is as simple as that!

Above are four fabulous statement necklaces available from Laveesha.com.

Laveesha.com is owned by  Donegal entrepreneur Louise Breslin and offers high quality jewellery (and make-up products) at great prices.

These pieces are part of the new “Park Avenue Princess” collection. As the name suggests they are inspired by New York’s fashion elite & socialites from Sex and The City, Gossip Girl and Olivia Palermo. They will be available to purchase on Laveesha.com in the coming weeks.

Louise is also launching a brush range next month and hopes to host a makeup/fashion event in Letterkenny so the pieces will be available to purchase at that also.

These pieces really have the power to add the WOW factor to your spring/summer outfits Ladies.

With love,

Mairéad
