APOLOGY ISSUED AFTER INISHOWEN ‘MOVED TO DERRY’ ON OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT MAP

mapTHE Central Statistics Office has issued an apology after a map promoting the forthcoming census moved Inishowen into County Derry.

The Donegal peninsula was transferred to the North in a map urging people in the Republic to fill out their Census 2016 form (above).

“The Central Statistics Office acknowledge the inadvertent error on the graphic which resulted in the omission of the Inishowen Peninsula and apologise for any offence or inconvenience caused,” said a CSO spokeswoman.

The stupid error was made by Dublin advertising agency Language.

“We know we’re the forgotten county, but to lose an entire peninsula was a bit drastic,” complained Donegal Daily reader Bernie Doherty.

“Clearly there are people in the CSO and in that agency who don’t know their geography at all.”
