Old Orchard Saturday Division
Orchard F.C. 0 Drumkeen United 0
Orchard F.C. finished the season as runners-up in the Old Orchard Saturday Division Two of the Donegal Junior League. Sean O’ Donnell’s men won seven matches and drew five with only two defeats during the campaign. They scored thirty three goals and conceded sixteen amassing twenty six points. Drumkeen United finished in third spot again winning seven matches with five draws and four defeats. One unusual statistic of the St. Patrick’s Park men was the face that they ended with a negative goal difference, -1, an unusual occurrence for a team in the higher places in the tables.
Glencar Inn Saturday Reserve Division
Cappry Rovers Reserves 0 Milford United Reserves 6
Milford United Reserves completed their League season with a six goal victory over Cappry Rovers Reserves. The victory means that the men from Moyle View finish in fifth place in the table, three points ahead of Donegal Town Reserves. Cappry Rovers Reserves played most of the season with youth players who will have learned from their experiences and will be better prepared for next season due to this fact. Milford started Saturday’s game strongly and were ahead in the 8th minute when Joey Cullen finished off a good move. Milford kept the pressure on and made it 2-0 when Jamie Whelan scored from the penalty spot. It was 3-0 in the 43rd minute when JJ Fleming finished off another Milford move. Cappry didn’t give up and tried to get back into the game but Milford were still well on top and made 4-0 when Joey Cullen headed home at the back post. Joey Cullen completed his hat-trick with another header in the 70th minute. Milford completed the scoring in the 83rd minute when Ciaran Blaney finished well.
The Saturday League Shield
Strand Rovers 0 Drumbar F.C. 3
Drumbar F.C. are the first team through to the Final of the Saturday League Shield. Their opposition will come in the shape of either Fintown Harps AFC or Mulroy Celtic who contest the second semi-final on Saturday next at Pairc Achla, kick-off 2 p.m.

Kilmacrennan Celtic 3 Glenea United 4
The game between Kilmacrennan and Glenea on Sunday had a late start and neither team seemed to get into the game for the first 15 minutes. It was Glenea who were quickest off the mark though when one of Kilmacrennan’s defenders misjudged the ball and Ciaran Mc Geady fired the ball into the net. Just two minutes later Glenea doubled their lead when a free from just outside the box deflected off Kilmacrennan’s wall and slotted into the net. It took a while for Kilmacrennan to get into the game but just before half time they got a goal back when Caolan Kelly scored an excellent goal from outside the box leaving Glenea’s keeper with no chance. The second half started off at a much quicker pace with both teams having a good few chances. It wasn’t until the 77th minute that the next goal came. Glenea’s Darren Mc Geever was the man to score this time. Glenea were awarded a penalty on the 80th minute as one of their players was adjudged to be taken down in the box. Jason Hegarty stood up to the mark to deny Glenea a third goal. Glenea’s Christopher Cannon found himself one on one with the keeper on the 84th minute and made no mistake putting the Glenea men 3 ahead. The last 5 minutes of the game was an exciting affair, Kilmacrennan’s Garry Gorman got two goals back and it looked like they might get a draw but it wasn’t to be. Best for Glenea were Ciaran Mc Geady, Darren Mc Geever. Best for Kilmac were Caolan Kelly, Michael McLaughlin.
Rathmullan Celtic 2 Cappry Rovers 2
Dara Patton and Shea Coyle scored for Rathmullan while Brian Lafferty and Alan Patton got Cappry’s two goals in this end of season encounter at the Flagpole.
Kildrum Tigers 2 St. Catherines 1
Kildrum started like a house on fire and took the lead after 4 minutes when William Lynch slotted home from a Brian Coll free-kick. St. Catherine’s levelled after twenty minutes when Maguire finished precisely from the penalty spot. Kildrum restored their lead on twenty three minutes when good work from Shane McIntyre and Damian Crossan set up Gary Crossan who rattled home from 25 yards. Kildrum were well in control in the second half and threatened through Colhoun, Crossan and McIntyre but couldn’t get the killer goal. The Saints pushed men forward late on but the Tigers were resilient and were well worthy of the three points.
Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Raphoe Town 0 Convoy Arsenal 2
Raphoe and Convoy enjoyed a good battle at the Deele College Grounds on a fine day for football. It was an even first half with both teams having chances. Convoy went ahead when Eunan Kelly curled a shot past Roy Duffy. The second half belonged to Convoy and they scored a second when a lapse in concentration let in Ryan Carlin to score. Good performances from both teams. Referee: James Malseed.
Kerrykeel ’71 F.C. 0 Donegal Town 3
Donegal Town had the most of the possession in the first half of this match at Rab’s Park. Kerrykeel netminder Shane Sandilands made three if not four outstanding saves to keep his side in the game. Donegal took the lead on forty four minutes when Benny Byrne headed them in front. Kerrykeel gave as good as they got in the second half and on sixty five minutes they were awarded a penalty which unfortunately for them they missed. Donegal went on to score two more in the final ten minutes of the game.
Bonagee United 3 Lifford Celtic 1
The first chance of the game fell to Paul Carlin for the visitors on twenty minutes but he shot wide from ten yards. A Shane Kelly cross on twenty five minutes for the home side was headed over by Greg Jacob from six yards. Eamon Cannon for Bonagee saw his strike from thirty yards hit the cross bar on forty three minutes. The home side took the lead on fifty three minutes when after good work down the right by Noel O’ Donnell he found Chris Darby outside the box and his shot was pushed away by the keeper and the incoming Greg Jacob who shot home from six yards. Lifford levelled the match on the hour after a cross into the box from the right fell to Adam Kelly and he shot home from ten yards. Bonagee got their second on seventy minutes after a Shane Kelly cross from the right to Chris Darby and he shot home from fifteen yards. Kelly and Carlin were always a threat for the visitors in attack. Bonagee got their third on eighty eight minutes when Eamon Cannon scored direct from a corner kick. Team effort by both sides. Keadue Rovers 0 Lagan Harps 0
Lagan left Central Park with a point that could have a big bearing on the destination of the Temple Domestic Appliances Division One trophy. The League crown is now in their own hands and a victory next Sunday against Kerrykeel would give the Orchard Park side the silverware. It will not be easy however as the other Orchard Park men, Convoy Arsenal are breathing down their neck only a point adrift should Lagan slip up. Convoy visit Bonagee next weekend while also still in the title mix are Donegal Town who are level with Convoy and host Lifford Celtic next Sunday.
CT Ball Division Two
Letterbarrow Celtic 1 Ballybofey United 3
This was the last game of the season for both teams and was played in a good spirit at Tymeen. Ballybofey started brightly but Letterbarrow took the lead on 25 minutes when their top scorer for the season, John Corley, tapped in from close range. Ballybofey got their equaliser with fifteen minutes remaining when Damien Glackin tapped into the empty net when the home side stopped in anticipation of a free out for a foul on the home keeper. Two minutes later, Glackin added his second when he was put through by Wizard McGowan. Letterbarrow pushed hard for an equaliser and James Mc Groary was unlucky when the visitor’s keeper made a top corner save from his 25 yard free kick. As they pushed forward Letterbarrow left gaps at the back and Glackin secured his hat-trick (but not the match ball in this league!) in injury time.
Whitestrand United 4 Copany Rovers 0
On a cold brisk Spring day Whitestrand United took on Copany Rovers at Mc Garvey Park. Whitestrand started the game on the front foot when Matt McNulty broke through and slotted past the advancing Copany keeper. It wasn’t long before McNulty was through again but this time his shot went narrowly wide. Whitestrand kept up the pressure with Copany only rarely venturing into the opposition half of the pitch and the second goal came when Kevin Loughrey broke through and scored with a shot across the keeper. The second half started in a similar vein to the first when Kevin Loughrey got his second goal with a well struck shot. Whitestrand had numerous chances with long range shots from both Loughrey and Brendan Callaghan going close to extending the lead. The final goal came when Shane Mc Glade made no mistake and calmly slotted past the keeper. All in all it was a good performance from Whitestrand to end their games at Mc Garvey park for this season on a high. Best for Whitestrand were Kevin Loughrey and Matt McNulty
Deele Harps 0 Erne Wanderers 2
Visitors Erne Wanderers left Lifford with the CT Ball Division 2 title following a late twist in the title race. Deele started slowly and never really got going and went behind following a spill from the keeper and the unfortunate Deele defender tapped into his own goal. Erne were strong in defence and well marshalled by Eamonn Cleary and Ryan O’ Brien and Deele couldn’t break them down. The second half was a tough encounter with little in the way of chances and as Deele pushed for the equaliser the sucker punch came when Erne broke and Michael ‘Sticky’ Ward fired home from the edge of the box. With Curragh Athletic and Glenree drawing it was Erne who lifted the title. Best for Erne were Ryan O’ Brien and Eamonn Cleary.
Curragh Athletic 0 Glenree United 0
Curragh and Glenree played out a fairly uneventful match at the Oaktree Complex on Sunday afternoon. Glenree came to Killygordon with one eye on Promotion and another on the League Title. With these two in mind this is how they went about playing the match, cautiously hopeful. While they shaded the play for much of the game they were never far enough in supremacy to go fully at the home rearguard, deciding instead to hold what they had and maybe gain something extra on the break. That said, Curragh had the most accomplished player on the field in the evergreen Dermott Shield who gave a lesson in defending that all young players could do with watching and learning from. He controlled everyone around him without any fuss and his presence surely motivated this performance from Curragh, one of their best of the season. Congratulations to Glenree on their promotion.
