FEATURES: Donegal South Forum and Donegal Local Development Company Ltd (DLDC) hosted a networking event for members of community and voluntary groups in South Donegal on Wednesday evening in Balintra Community Hall.

The event brought together members of local community groups within South Donegal and provided people within the area with an opportunity to link together and discuss the many projects, activities and voluntary projects that do significant work each day within the local community.

Speaking on the success of the event, Mary McGowan, Chairperson of Donegal South Forum told Donegal Daily, “This is the first in a series of events that we are planning for 2016 that will enable members of local community groups to share information on the activities, supports and services which they provide.

“There is a wide variety of groups and community projects in the South Donegal area. Everyone involved in the planning and delivery of community activities can be very proud of their achievements and we aim to help them showcase these achievements.”

The event brought together speakers and representatives from Ballyshannon Pantomime Society, Ballyshannon Drama Society, The Breesy Centre Parent and toddler group, Donegal Walk and Talk group, Rossnowlagh Womens group, the Michael Gallagher Dance Group, Donegal Sports Partnership, Donegal House of Stories, Donegal South Forum, Killybegs Mesn Shed, Donegal Social Prescribing and DLDC. People who attended had an opportunity to find out about these groups and how to get involved in their activities. Music and entertainment was provided by Danny Meehan and Farrah Boyle.

Donegal South Forum representatives works with a range of state agencies and partners to promote the interests of local community groups and organisations throughout South Donegal.

The group would like to express their sincere thanks to all who took part in the event and made it a great success.
