imageThe Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is inviting applications for internships in its Legal Division.

The paid legal internships will be for a maximum of 11 months, and will commence in August/September 2016.

Interns will work within the Legal Division, which seeks to ensure an appropriate legal input in the formulation and implementation of Ireland’s foreign policy and to contribute to effective Irish participation in international legal fora.

Under the supervision of a senior legal officer in the Division, interns will assist on a variety of tasks and projects, including legal research.

Applicants should be graduates in law, with at least a 2:1 degree grade or equivalent experience or qualifications.

Very good knowledge of public international law is essential, along with a good general knowledge of Irish Law, an ability to work in a team and good IT skills.

Knowledge of EU and human rights law, and proficiency in another European language, would also be an advantage.

Applications should be sent by email to legalintern@dfa.ie by 5:00 pm on Friday, 29 April 2016. Applications should consist solely of the completed application form, available on the link below, or via email at legalintern@dfa.ie.

Selection will be on the basis of a competitive interview. If a large number of applications are received, candidates will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of their application.
