Donegal County CouncilDonegal County Council has launched a major initiative to buy land for future social housing across Donegal.

The council is now officially inviting expressions of interest from land owners for parcels of land, which they would be willing to sell for development of social housing.

Green and brown field sites will be considered as will derelict, vacant or underused lands in town centre locations.

The land is being sought in the following towns:

Ballybofey
Buncrana
Clonmany
Donegal Town
Falcarragh / Gortahork
Glenties
Ramelton
Stranorlar

The sites should ideally be located within the control limits of the listed towns, within walking distance of a nucleus of a school, church, shops and other facilities, favourably zoned i.e. suitable for immediate residential development, serviceable, and directly accessible from the public road.

The sites should generally be level or have gentle slopes. Landfill sites, contaminated ground, and sites prone to flooding will not be considered.

The interested parties should submit the following information in relation to their land by 12:00 midday on 27th May 2016 in a sealed envelope, marked “Donegal County Council Housing Land Procurement 2016” and addressed to the County Secretary, Donegal County Council, County House, Lifford, County Donegal.
