GALLAGHER SAVES A VITAL POINT FOR HARPS AGAINST BOHS

Finn Harps goalkeeper Ciaran Gallagher literally single-handidly saved a point for his side at Ballybofey tonight as it ended 0-0 against Bohemians.

The Harps net minder, in and out of the starting line-up this season, returned the good fate shown in him by Ollie Horgan in the dying seconds of this encounter.

It’s the second draw on the trot for Harps after last week’s 1-1 stalemate with Wexford Youths but Ollie Horgan won’t be complaining.

Gallagher kept his cool in the 93rd minute to save well from Anto Murphy’s spot-kick.

Up until that it was Bohs who probably looked the more dangerous and Packie Mailey, for the second week in a row, managed to clear off his line when Paddy Kavanagh rounded Gallagher in the 18th minute.

Harps brought on Kevin McHugh and he had a shot palmed away while Tony McNamee also had a half chance.

Ryan Curran had another opportunity for Harps but it was Gallagher who emerged the hero as Harps continue to pick up vital points in what was the last game of the first third of the season.

Finn Harps – C Gallagher; D McNulty, K Cowan, P Mailey, C Coll; A Hanlon (K McHugh 71), B Molloy, S Houston, G Harkin (Funston ‘37), T McNamee (Scully 84); R Curran.

Bohemians – D Delany; D Pender, R Lopes, D Prendergast, L Fitzgerald; P Kavanagh, D Byrne, K Buckley (A Murphy 76), D Mulcahy, AB Mohamed (J Kelly h-t); M Quigley (K Byrne 76).

Ref – D McKeon (Dublin).
