BOXING: Jason Quigley has won the biggest, and toughest fight of his professional career to date tonight in Las Vegas – courtesy of a unanimous decision.

Quigley went the distance for the first time in his professional career, and was pushed all the way by the tough James De La Rosa.

De La Rosa, is an experienced and talented fighter, and there was no doubt prior to this bout that it was going to be a big, big test for Quigley.

However, the Finn Valley man passed the test with flying colours and produced a classy, controlled and excellent performance.

Quigley started the busier and landed a number of powerful shots early on, and settled into the contest well.

Quigley oozed class throughout the contest, but De La Rosa showed his quality in patches and landed a number of tellingly punches as the fight entered its later stages.

Quigley knew he was in control of the fight, and De La Rosa knew he was chasing it, that forced him to come after Quigley, but the Donegal man was able to pick off the onrushing De La Rosa.

De La Rosa looked in trouble in the 9th round, he lay on the ropes, and Quigley landed some huge shots, but the experienced and tough fighter survived the onslaught.

Quigley boxed cleverly in the final round, and the judges awarded him victory by unanimous decision.

Fantastic performance from Quigley, what a fighter we have!
