WU16 v BosniaTHE Republic of Ireland Women’s U16 side recorded another impressive victory at the UEFA WU16 Development Tournament in Hungary as a headed the first goal from Glenties girl Amy Boyle Carr steered the Irish to a 3-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina in Buk.

Sharon Boyle’s side had beaten Slovakia 2-0 in their opening game on Sunday so the Irish coach was thrilled with how her players followed that performance up with an excellent three goal salvo.

The Irish went ahead in the 18th minute when Amy Boyle Carr steered home a header from a Tiegan Ruddy cross.

Ruddy then got on the score-sheet in the 51st minute when she burst through from midfield and found the Bosnian net with a thumping drive from 30 yards out.

Aoife Fennell wrapped up the scoring in the 66th minute when her corner curled straight into the opposition net.

Another Donegal player – Tyler Toland – was also in top form for the game.

“I’m very pleased with how we played today,” said manager Boyle.

“We made three changes to the line-up from Monday’s game so everybody has played a part already which is good.

“We started well. Our back four was solid through-out and Tyler Toland was outstanding in midfield. She’s just up from the schools U15s squad and will be a top player.

“We pressed them high had a few chances saved after taking the lead and made changes throughout the game. I’m delighted with the performance – the girls did very well.

“I’m excited to see how this group develops going forward. They’re a special group of players. We’re preparing them for the UEFA WU17 qualifiers next season and things are going well. We’re looking forward to Thursday’s game against Hungary.”
