Donegal Senator Padraig Mac Lochlainn has demanded to known why has it taken 11 years to find a site for Buncrana Three School Campus.

The Buncrana-based Senator has now written to the Minister for Education, Richard Bruton and the CEOs of Donegal ETB and Donegal County Council appealing to them to do all in their power to expedite the site selection for the three school campus.

When built the campus will incorporate new schools for Crana College, Gaelcholáiste Chineál Eoghain and Gaelscoil Bhun Cranncha.

Senator Mac Lochlainn “There is growing anger amongst parents in Buncrana and Inishowen at this site selection process that has been ongoing since 2005.

“This is an extraordinary length of time and it is frankly indefensible.

“I have to ask the question. Why has it taken 11 years to find a site for this three school campus?

He continued “All of the buildings and sites currently housing these schools are no longer viable in terms of scale and design.

“I have appealed the Minister Bruton and the CEOs of Donegal ETB and Donegal County Council to collectively do all in their power to expedite this site selection. I have appealed to them all to prioritise this task, freeing up the necessary staff and injecting the necessary urgency until this is resolved once and for all.”
