Brendan Boyce has been selected to represent Ireland at the Olympic Games in Rio.

Brendan Boyce has been selected to represent Ireland at the Olympic Games in Rio.

ATHLETICS: There was delight for Donegal Olympian Brendan Boyce after he was officially selected for the Olympics games in Rio.  

The talented Milford man – Brendan Boyce had his place for this summers Olympic Games rubber-stamped on Monday night.

Athletics Ireland officially named Boyce on their 50k walk team selection that was forwarded on to the Olympic Council of Ireland.

Brendan participated in the London Games in 2012, and performed admirably – finishing 29th overall.

Boyce made the qualifying mark for the Rio games in early March, and will be joined on the team by Rob Heffernan and Alex Wright.

Boyce joins fellow Donegal colleagues Sinead Jennings and Chloe Magee on the plane to Brazil.

Breege Connolly from Kinlough, Co. Leitrim who runs for North Belfast AC, has strong connections to Donegal and has also been selected to represent Ireland at the Olympic games.
